Hi,
I've had this problem for the last few weeks, and have
tried every combination of settings to no avail. The
problem used to be when I first loaded IE, it would
say "Detecting Proxy Settings..." for about 10 seconds,
then load my home page (google). I went to the tools,
unchecked Automatic Detection, and it got rid of that
particular problem. Unfortunately, it was replaced
by "Connecting to 192.168.0.2" which is my DNS server on
my LAN. This now takes the same ten seconds to connect
to, after which i have a fast connection again. If I keep
navigating the internet, I continue to have a fast
connection with no hiccups. If I leave IE running, but
don't click a new link for a while (10 to 20 seconds or
more), and then try to click a link, the problem will
reappear.
I have tried modifying my TCP/IP configuration with and
without the DNS specified. I have tried pinging the
address above, but it always works in 0ms (there is never
a delay). I have tried specifying and not specifying the
DNS in IE>>Tools>>Options>>Connections. I have tried
scanning for adware and spyware with AdAware, SpyBot, and
HijackThis. None of these have helped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
