IE6 - timed auto-opening of a web page

I wanted to know if it is possible to get a particular web page (for which I
have a shortcut on my desktop) to automatically open at a certain time each
day. For
example, I want to monitor cheap airfares that go on sale between certain
hours each day. I want to be reminded of this (apart from a pop up in
calendar) by the page opening up or some other method. Any suggestions?
Thanks. Jazz.

Just use the Windows Task Scheduler

in Windows XP you'll find it under 'Control Panel'. first create a shortcut
to the appropriate page, then reference that shortcut in your scheduled
task.

Hi Jason, I followed your suggestion (I am on Windows ME and got to my
Scheduled Tasks through System Tools). I linked it to the shortcut I
already had on my desktop and then waited with baited breath at the scheduled
time for the page to open like magic, but alas, nothing! Any suggestions as
to what I might have done wrong? Many thanks. Jazz

hmmm... give me a few minutes and I'll try this out on my WinXP system here

OK. Just tried this out under XP, and it seems if you use an internet
shortcut as I suggested, it tries to go off to temporary internet files, for
some reason. odd, didn't expect that. So I changed the scheduled task item.
under it's properties sheet, I changed the 'Run:' parameter to

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.google.com/

and that one worked.

Hi Jason, well I have tried this and under Run: I have C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
http://www.virginblue.com.au/bookings/happy_hr/ but nothing happened! Under
Start In: I have C:\WINDOWS\Desktop. I am sure it is something stupid like
a space or something, but would be grateful if you could spot the error!
Thanks again. Jazz
