Hi, I've seen this exact issue posted several times but have not found
anyone who has resolved it... Hoping someone has figured it out.

I don't know what I changed on my system, but several months ago IE6 stopped
working. I have IE6 sp1, Win XP SP2.

When I first boot, IE works fine for about 10 minutes. After that, any site
I access I get the "Page not found" error. This only applies to port 80, I
can access HTTPS, FTP, POP, SMTP etc. without problem. Ping, nslookup and
tracert all work fine. Other computers on my network access the net just
fine. Rebooting the router has no affect, only rebooting my PC (and then,
only for 10 minutes).

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND if you think this problem is because my DNS is set up
wrong or something like that. I do this for a living and trust me DNS, my
hosts file etc. are perfect. Many people are having this same problem and
this advice is getting them nowhere.

I suspect I've been hijacked, but AdAware-SE and Norton anti-virus both
report a clean bill of health.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Running a firewall? Does the log indicate which program tried to send out?
Any suspicious programs loading at startup?

Malware is a good possibility. No one program can remove all malware. Start
by downloading and running CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot. Check for
updates before running Ad-aware or Spybot.

If unsuccessful with those programs, you may have to post a HijackThis log
for analysis. Start at

steps then post a HijackThis log to the forum at

Be patient. It's a busy forum.
