IE6 Starts Up When My Computer Does... Can I Turn This Function Off?

Pretty much everything was said in topic, but I'll reiterate: I'm not sure
how to stop IE from always opening when I start the computer. My dad's
blaming the setting on me, because when AOL was our default browser, this
never happened, so I'd like to "fix it" for him. Does anyone know how to
turn this off? Thanks for any help.

If you are using 98 or XP, go to Start, Run, and type "msconfig" then hit
enter.
The dialog box that opens will have a tab called "Startup", click on that
tab.
This shows the programs that automatically run when Windows starts.
Check to see if "iexplore" is one of the programs and uncheck it if it is.
Hit "OK" and restart the computer.

If you don't see Internet Explorer in the Startup, it is possible that some
other program or file is trying to run at startup and it is causing IE to
start. For example if a specific Web page or URL was listed in the startup,
it would try to start IE to load that page or site. So you might possibly
see a shortcut to something web related in there.

You should be careful about removing stuff from the startup, some thing may
need to be in there (your anti-virus software for example). So if you're not
sure about something leave it alone.

Thanks so much for the help, James. It appears to be fine now.
