IE6 SP2 freezes at random times!

hi guys and gals, i'm using internet explorer 6 with service pack 2 and
sometimes when i'm surfing the internet my whole laptop freezes and does not
respond to any inputs, the only thing i can do is press and hold the power
button to turn it off, i don't like to keep doing this as i don't think it
does my laptop any good, does anyone know any suggestions that may help me to
stop IE6 freezing like this its very annoying! i assume it is a software
problem as this only happens in IE6. Thank you very much for your time and
suggestions
