When I enter a URL into the address bar or select a
bookmark, IE6 responds slowly in connecting to the sites.
In most cases the progress bar in the lower right corner
shows either no activity or is very slow. At the same
time, however, other browsers accessing the same sites at
about the same times, react very much faster, if not
instantaneously. Repeaterd attempts to re-connect to
these sites (major sites, such as amazon.com, yahoo.com
etc.) produce the same results.
I am running WIN XP Pro on a P4 system w/ 1GB RAM and
approx. 50GB free HDD space. Cache has been cleaned,
cookies and history deleted. I connect to the Internet
via DSL.
How can I resolve this problem w/o having to de-install
IE6, something that seems not to be possible in the first
place.
