Viewing a particular auction website, ie shuts down when
i hit the bid button. (Ebay works fine). There is no
message, no error box, no warning. IE just vanishes from
the screen. I am on xp service pack 1, have used this
site on someone elses computer (Win 98) with no problems
at all.

I have disabled the firewall, turned off the popup
stopper and included this site as a trusted site but I
still can't view this page. My system is clean of any
spyware, viruses and worms. Could this be the result of a
past virus? I didnt know I had this problem until I
visited www.clearance-comet.co.uk so I don't know how
long the problem has been there or if it happens on any
other sites.

I contacted the site in question and they said it was an
invalid page fault but could offer no help. Finding a
solution when I have no error message to go by is proving
impossible.

Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Sue,

Enable Error-Reporting for Internet Explorer.
Click [Start] [Run] [Sysdm.cpl] [Error Reporting] [Enable Error Reporting]
[Choose Program]
Add the application name .exe to the list.

Open the applications next time, the error should be displayed.

When the application crashes, you will be presented with the dialog which
says "send the error
report to microsoft". In that Window, click "to see what data this report
contains" and note down the MODNAME & APPNAME.

Post back the names!

Ramesh,

Thanks for your suggestion, but-
Error-Reporting was already enabled for all applications
and worked on other occations. Added iexporer.exe to list
anyway, but still no error message or warning, ie just
dissapears and I'm back at the desktop.

Any other suggestions?

Sue,

The abnormal termination of IE may be due to spyware or malware BHOs

SpyBot S&D searches your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/

and

Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)

BTW, please post the OS installed.
