IE6 SEVERE Problems

A few days ago my IE6 browser stopped putting in the http:// protocol
automatically like it should. Example. When I type in www.google.co.uk it is
not putting in http:// in front of it like it should. This means the webpage
can't load as it needs http://. It works if i type in http:// automatically
but it SHOULD do it automatically. Does Anybody know why?? PLEASE HELP!!
