IE6 search funtion

In cleaning up spyware and computer in general, I lost the
search funtion in IE6.When clicking on search button,
search window comes up, but is blank. Any thoughts or
fixes?
 
first back up the registry

extract to the desktop, rename the file to IE6.reg (the icon will change)
Close all Internet Explorer browser windows
Click on ie6.reg and select to merge with the registry
Click ok for confirmation
Open IE
 
I have go back running,is that OK?
