Hi,

I'm having a problem with IE6 refreshing the screen every 60 seconds which
is in turn wiping out any text I write in a forum I use. This is unique to
IE as I have tested the same forum with other browsers [Mozilla, Opera,
Firefox] and do not have the same issue. As part of my test I logged in
with 3 PCs each using a different browser, going to the same forum, and
entering a text message. I neach case after one minute the IE version wiped
out my text in progress. I repeated the test rotating which PC used IE so
that I could eliminate the PC as a factor. Each the only one loosing the
text with the refresh was IE6.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

It depends what is causing it. One possibility is the Security setting
META Refresh. Another is scripting; so try setting Active Scripting
to be a prompt. Then when you reach a page which has the problem
you can selectively disallow scripting on it. Unfortunately META Refresh
can only be enabled or disabled. If you disable it be prepared to do
some digging in some View Source displays because not all sites which
use that feature provide for users who either want to disallow it or whose
browser doesn't support it. It is frequently used these days to ensure
different advertisers get their ads displayed.

An example link would simplify discussion if you need more help.

If it is not a specific site that would be a strong indication of a malware
effect. Some of it is driven by scripting so my previous suggestion to
make scripting a prompt might help uncover it anyway. Otherwise see
any of the MVPs or other frequent responders posts about how to deal
with malware.

Good luck
