A friend of mine says when they had a Win/98 system they could go to add and
remove and do a repair in Internet Explorer 6,
They want to know if the same can be done in XP?

TIA B.W.

Sorry for this cross posting but I could not see my other two postings
showing on XP Help and Support

Only if they install IE6sp1 *before* they install XPsp1.
I suppose they could try uninstalling XPsp1 in order to do that
but if they have any preSP2 patches also installed I still
haven't tested that case to know if uninstalling their prerequisite
would uninstall them automatically or not. In previous versions
of this reply I have suggested that users who want to try this
might want to (as much as possible) uninstall any such patches
in the reverse order of their application before uninstalling XPsp1.

BTW when you do install XPsp1 you do lose the entry in Add/Remove
Programs but you don't lose setupwbv.dll. So you can then continue
using the command line:

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance
