IE6 Reinstallation to Fix Registry

Once, on this usergroup, someone gave me a way to reinstall IE 6 by
modifying the Registry at two locations. It was a simple task to do...
simply change at two location in the Registry the Number 1 (for true) to the
number 0 (for false). It basically signifies that IE is no longer
installed. Therefore you can put the IE6sp1 disk in the computer and
re-install.

If anybody knows what I'm talking about, can you please let me know again
(which I will store in my archives).

Thanks in advance.

XP".
Make sure your antivirus is turned off.

You will need to uninstall WinXP SP2 from Control Panel -> Add/Remove
Programs and then reinstall Service Pack 2.

"How to remove Windows XP Service Pack 2 from your computer".

For Service Pack 1, this enables reinstallation of IE.

Download and double-click the .reg file, then proceed to reinstal IE.

QED: What's wrong with the Registry that it needs to be fixed? What leads you to believe that reinstalling IE6 will fix it?

Hi JCO,

This is Vincent again.

From the KB article, Q318378, this method applies to Windows XP and SP1.
I'm not sure if it applies to Windows 2000(it appears to be the same issue
with another thread you posted). Please feel free to post back if problem
persists.

BTW,shall we close the older thread and follow up in this thread?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Vincent Xu

Vincent,
I just posted this because I wanted to document it... Not that I needed it
again. Sorry for the confusion.
There is another thread that you are working on for me titled "Ie6 Won't let
me see Graphics". In that thread, I sent you a cab file, at your request,
thru the Utility you sent me.

That is the Thread I wish to concentrate on ... not this thread.
Thanks
