I have a user who uses a standard build XP desktop built from a ghost
image. Lots of other users use this build without a problem. He,
however suffers lots of random crashes in IE6.

It's a XP machine with SP2 and all latest updates.

I have removed SP2 to see if this resolved the issue - no
We have given him 2 different PC's but using the same build - same
problems
We have deleted and re-created his roaming user profile - still
happens

The build is fine as is proved by the other users who work without an
issue.

I have posted the (less than helpful) event ID below - any one any
ideas?

Does he have EXACTLY the same hardware as others using the same ghost image?
If not, you may well have to do a clean install and update of WinXP.

The machines are EXACTLY the same - any ideas?

I just reread your first message. The machine does not have SP2:
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2600.0
SP2 would be 6.0.2900.2180

apologies - that was the error after I removed SP2. Heres on from when
he had sp2 installed:

Eliminate any scumware.
CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

This issues occurs for him on freshly built machines (with no malware)
as well as older ones. I will scan for malware anyway but I doubt that
this is the cause of his problems.
I will let you know the result.

Thanks

Paul
