IE6 problems with cookies

I have XP sp2 installed and have some issues with Internet explorer 6sp2.
IE6 has refused to accept cookies and hence I cannot get to many sites. The
settings in IE say cookies ae enabled. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, I have tried to get a fresh install of IE6 - I have reloaded XPsp2, no
change, I downloaded IEsp1 which the Microsoft site is the latest version,
yet my version is 6sp2 and the sp1 will not load.

How can I reinstall IE6 without reinstalling XP from scratch? Or does
anyone know why IE6 has stopped accepting cookies?

Also, the IE tech group only has IE5 support - is there another area?

Thanks
Ted

I have tried all settings, down to low and accept all cookies. Under
advanced I have uncheck the box, checked the box and checked accept all
cookies- none of this works.... the problem started after I instlled some
drivers for a USB 2 card.... I think some files were corrupted in IE6 but now
I cannot find out how to reinstall IE6.

Hi Ted,

Post the exact error messages, etc. here. In the meantime, if you have any
AV, etc programs running in the background, either disable them to test,
and/or check within the settings provided to fix this.

I had the same problem--everything was checked to accept cookies, but I kept
getting messages as if my computer wasn't accepting them (on one particular
site). I finally got it fixed by doing the following (I think I had done all
of this several times before also, but these are the exact things I changed
that fixed my problem)

First, close all but one browser window. Click the Tools tab on the top
bar, then Internet Options, then the Privacy tab, then sites, then remove
all. Then back to internet options, click the General tab, click Delete all
cookies in temp. internet file folder, then ok when the box pops up. Then
back to the General tab under internet options, click Delete all files and be
sure to check the box next to "Delete all offline content". Then back to the
General tab and click "clear history". Also, on the Internet Options Privacy
tab, I UNchecked the Block Pop-ups box. Then close the browser window you
have open and reopen another one. After this, mine started working. I don't
know what exactly fixed it, but this is what I did.

You may also want to contact the website you're having trouble with and tell
them what's happening. I also did that so I don't know if they fixed or
changed anything on their end that could have fixed it. They haven't told me
if they did. Good Luck!
