I am running Windows XP on my laptop and have just restored it back to its
factory settings. Internet Explorer 6 works ok up until I install Service
Pack 2, when it will work ok for about 3 minutes, then give an error message
of "Internet Explorer could not open the search page" or "The page cannot be
displayed". If I remove SP2, IE6 works ok. I am unable to find a fix that I
understand from the website and therefore would be obliged if any one can
offer any advice please.

Thanks.

While SP2 is not installed, eliminate any spyware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Then install SP2..
