My problem is that if I try to open multiple explorer
sessions I cannot. Further let's say i'm browsing
microsoft.com and want to go to google.com but keep the
microsoft window open. I click on the ie button on my
toolbar which USED to open a brand new window whala I
have microsoft.com & goggle.com open at the same time.
For some unknown reason which just started, now if I try
to open a new browser window it shuts down ie, and
restarts it with the new web address. So in other words I
can't view multiple web sites, and no there is not a
button on the toolbar with the old window on it, nothing
at all.

Brian,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for
launching shortcuts."
And... if you have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows (ads)
you may have to disable it. Yahoo companion and Google toolbar have this
feature.
With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.

Thanks for the two responses unfortunately all of that
has been tried, including turning off Norton, but to no
avail. I even tried removing ie6 with add/remove software
to reinstall it. It told me it was removed, yet here I am
typing a message back (without reinstalling ie) !!!

Please Help!!!!

"IE button"? What is that? Sounds like a third-party tool?
Does it have a tool tip you can disclose?

FYI with standard IE if you want to open a link in a new window,
either press Ctrl-N (File, New > Window)
or right-click the link you want to open and choose Open in New Window.
Some people also have luck holding a Shift- key down
while they press Enter on a selected link.
Even fewer people have luck holding a Shift- key down
while they click on a selected link (e.g. before selecting it)

You haven't told us your OS but this may be a clue?
Was the size of the thing you removed 0K?
If so all you removed was the ability to use shortcuts
on an XP desktop and Start menu.

If you really want to reinstall IE see KB318378
