I have been having problems with Internet Explorer so I thought I would try
to repair it by going to Add Remove programs and then selecting the repair
option when I selected Internet Explorer. However, when I try this I get the
following error message :

"Error in setupwbv.dll
Missing entry.IE6Maintenance"

Has anyone experienced this message before? Any suggestions as to how I fix
it?

I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea but perhaps try to uninstall completely then reinstalling IE
will fix your problem.

Thanks for your reply. For some reason I cannot uninstall.

If I do try to uninstall I get the error message :-
"Error in setupwbv.dll
Missing entry:IE6Maintenance"

I then tried to completely reinstall again, and this time I got the error
message :-

"Setup cannot continue because files are missing from the installation
directory. Please run Setup again and choose Resume Setup. This will
download the missing files and continue Setup"

For information I am using Win ME

Have you seen this error before? Any idea what I can do now to try to repair
or re-install Internet Explorer 6?

Thanks!!

I haven't had the same experience, sorry. However when I did use Windows ME
I experienced lots of unusual problems with IE and Outlook so eventually I
upgraded to Windows XP which has proved to be a far more stable operating
system.

If you're still having problems, as a last resort you could completely
reinstall Windows ME, or if you got a repair disk with your pc perhaps try
running that. Like I say, I'm not sure exactly what your problem is but
these are the things I'd be thinking of doing if I was really stuck.

Good Luck.

Neil,

The message suggests to me that you have an old version of that
module. E.g. the one that came with your OS would only have had
an entrypoint called IE5Maintenance. I think that I once suggested
to someone who was in that situtation that they try to Run...

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance

I seem to recall that some unexpected symptom occurred but can't
recall what it was. (I'm writing this offline otherwise I could search
for the thread I'm thinking about with Google Groups. IIRC it would
have been in ie6.setup. So this search might find it for you:

IE5Maintenance IE6Maintenance author:aldwinckle group:microsoft.*.ie6.setup
)

In any case there is a poster called Oops!! who specializes in helping
WinME users get IE6 reinstalled. You could try doing a similar search
for his *frequent* posts. E.g. try:

insubject:install OR insubject:installing OR insubject:reinstall author:oops!! group:microsoft.*.ie6.setup

Another, less frequently used, alternative would be to use Method 2
from the following MSKB article:

<title>KB318378 - How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP</title>

Supposedly this has been used successfully on other OS. YMMV.

Good luck
