It does not always open, page cannot be found..... it comes up when pressing
refresh, but then extremely slow when linking to another page and again the
same cannot find etc comes up. This is a new problem on a laptop with
wireless high speed, nothing wrong with the connection speed though it states
excellent. The desktop on same conx works fine. The co where it was purchases
says I have to reload Windows XP but that seems too drastic. Please help.

Check for spyware first, it's unfortunately a very common cause of trouble

SpyBot Search and Destroy

Microsoft Antispyware

Important - LSP-Fix
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Be aware that using either of these to actually remove spyware can result in
some programs refusing to work, in other words "Free" programs that you
downloaded on condition you accepted ads and so called "Research" may get
broken and you might want to uninstall them first. Some spyware actually
breaks Windows trying to force it's way in and you should arm yourself with
LSP-Fix before starting in case you lose internet connectivity.

Thank you
I had the problem before I ran the spybot seach and destroy program (it
found very few) and it did not make any difference unfortunately. I will
download the MS program you recommended and see if that makes a difference. I
read someplace that it could be a problem with the cashe....

Yes, by all means go tools>internet options> general tab and hit the button
marked delete files... ignore the checkbox on the little popup and say yes
to clearing the cache. That helps with a lot of IE problems (which I've
always had on automatic and never had any of those problem but oh well) and
remember it for next time.

Thing is there's so many variations of spyware trouble these days you can
wind up trying to fix IE when it's not broken. The MS beta works well and
does inform you about certain happenings without hogging resources so I
think it is worth having.

I followed your instructions and downloaded the 2 programs but unfortunately
the MS antispyware program did not make a difference, it only found 3 and
recommended to ignore. The spy and detroy I alreadt had run. I do regularly
clear the temp files of course and also have it set for emtying when browser
is closed. There is nowhere to say yes to clear the cache though as you state.
In the meantime is is very difficult to do anything in IE because of the
slowness and timeout continuously. Any suggestion.
