Input please,

Weird things are happening to my computer and they all seem to have a common
denominator:

1) I am getting pop-ups even tho pop-up blocker is set for on and high.
2) get pop-ups even without IE6 on.
3) error [IE has encountered a problem and needs close. We are sorry for the
incovenience] box pops up
and IE isn't on.
4) when attempting to go to a link a red circle with a line through it
appears and kicks me off IE.
5) my computer is set to hibernate when I push the power button. It goes off
for 2 seconds and then comes
right back on. (no association as far as I know to IE)

I am running XP home, have IE6 and use Symantic Norton anti virus with all
the bells and whistles.
Don't know what else to include other than thanks if you can shed light on
what may be happening.

I have also been experiencing IE crash when I visit certain pages. IE just
says "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
incovenience" and shuts down. I upgraded to IE7 but same problem. The website
that causes such crash most often is:

Hi,
This sounds like a malware problem- adware, spyware, hijacker, trojan, etc.
