Hi. Question. Is there a way to manage IE6 plugins?

When I try to open a jpeg file with IE6, a QuickTime window opens it
instead. I replaced QuickTime with Windows Media Player. So how can I
remove this QT plugin?

Any advice would be appreciated...Dennis

Open QT player>Edit>Preferences>QTPreferences>FileTypeAssociations.
Check or uncheck.

I reinstalled QT6. Went into file type associations. Unchecked all image
checkmarks. Went into browser plugins. Again, unchecked all image
checkmarks. When trying to view a jpeg, still getting the QT pictureviewer.
Pictureviewer seems to be a separate program, but I see nothing on how to
uncheck it...Dennis

How? I've removed QT, but pictureviewer is still there. I don't see any
option in the control panel's add/remove programs.

Until I checked my system I had forgotten I had Picture viewer installed.
I never use it but I have never had that problem of yours. You could query
the QT site.
Or go into Programs, find it and delete it. If that causes any problems
you can always restore it.

I think I found the problem. Tracing back the pictureviewer help file,
there's a copy of QuickTime 2.0 for Windows on my machine. Now I got to
figure a way to remove it.

I found a bunch of 11/30/1994 00:00:00 files in c:\windows and
c:\windows\system. I removed these files (into a temp folder). IE6 still
prompts for the viewer, but will now at least will display a graphic image.
Still no uninstall option in the add/remove icon of control panel.

Found out the problem. Went into start->settings->folder options->filetypes.
Saw that JPEG record was already assigned to IEXPLORE. Then I went down to
"Q" types and saw a QuickTime record with a 2nd extension of JPG. Removed
that record and added a JPG file type, assigned to application/jpeg and
IEXPLORE.

When I open a jpg, I get a new iexplore window. Other than that, seems to
work fine...Dennis
