I have a Toshiba labtop for few months. Recently I changed the Internet
provider and after that I started to have problems because the system is
often frozen when using the IE6 browser. The only way to be back to work is
to reboot. I tried IE7 but the problem remains. Can I get some help?. Thks

Hello,

If you are using IE6, try running it with add-ons disabled. Start Internet
Explorer as normal, Tools, Manage Add-ons, Enable or Disable Add-ons.
Disable all the add-ons and enable them one by one till the problem appears
and you get the culprit.

If you are using IE7, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools >
Internet Explorer 7 (No Add-ons) to start without any add-ons. Close the
browser and see whether the problem occurs again.

If the problem does not occur again, start IE7, go to Tools > Manage Add-ons
and disable all the add-ons and enable them one by one till the problem
appears and you get the culprit.

Hi Ms,
Did you uninstalled any software for the Old ISP and set the New ISP as the
default Connection on your system?.
Try these steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click on Connection Tab and make sure the new ISP is set as the Default
connection and the old one not there and if there remove it.
Click on LAN Settings, make sure there is NO Proxy settings is checked.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
For Malware download both these software:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Run Disk Clean Up and Defrag in Safe Mode.
Look in the Event Viewer for any error messages(X) and double click them to
get more info about the causer and you can copy and paste in your next post
for us to have a look.
On how to access the Event viewer do the following:
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK] and click on each of the following and look in
the Right Pane/Window for the log and you will see the Red (X), double click
it and you will get more info about what app/Program caused it.
HTH.

Hi Ms,
Try these steps:
1-How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

Open a run command and type in:
sfc /scannow click [OK] you will need your XP CD to insert it in if the
system asked you to do so.
Memory Test from here:
Downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.
http://www.memtest86.com/
You may need to reposition/reset the RAM sticks in their slots.
Run this Process Explorer and see what running in the background:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx
Look in the Event Viewer for any error messages and double click them to get
more info and post them in your next post.

2-try to reregister the DLLs again with adding these to the list:
regsvr32 Ole32.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shell32.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll

You can copy and paste the above into a Notepad and safe on the desktop as
reg.bat, then open a run command and type in:
C:\reg.bat click [OK] and Yes.
Reboot your computer and see if there is any success.

3-Then Download the Hijackthis and send the report to one of
many
forums for analysis and troubleshooting:
When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. Post
your log to http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7, or other appropriate
forums for expert analysis, not here.

4- try to Repair/install the operating system, to do that read this article:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
You will need your XP CD and you need to uninstall IE7 if it installed, or
else you will have trouble with the Repair, because XP CD has only IE6 not
IE7, so make sure IE7 not on the system when performing Repair.
Please perform one step (1,2,3,4) at a time and see if it will solve your
issue.
HTH.
