I have a problem with IE opening repeatedly a minimum of 3 and max. of 43
times.
Running XP home SP2.
Anyone run into this before? IE 7 does it too.
Thanks,
Art

Hi,
Was IE7 (beta or final release) ever installed on this computer?

Just since IE6 started doing this. IE7 does the same thing, but only 3 or 4
times.

Hi,
Does this happen if add-ons are disabled?
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.

Has the machine been checked for malware- adware, spyware, trojans, etc? I
would run (at least) Ad-aware and Spybot.
Spybot - Search & Destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd
Ad-aware 6- Lavasoft: http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
More on malware later.

Next (easier than a full scale malware hunt) I would uninstall IE7. Restart.
Then... do you have this registry key?
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6}
Reference: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2005/12/16/504864.aspx
You should not have this key with IE6. If you find that key in your
registry, Export it (just in case) Delete it.
Restart.
If you're not familiar with regedit, please post back or seek help.
If that cures the problem, you can reinstall IE7, if you wish.
Antivirus/antispyware programs should be disabled when installing IE7. More

Thanks, I'll try all this. The computer is at a friends house and I can't
get there 'til next week, but I have forwarded this post to his email.
Already did adaware and Spybot with no adverse results and AVG is running
and testing.
I'll let you know as soon as I get to the machine.

Sorry it took so long. Couldn't get into Manage add-ons. It just wasn't in
the drop-down list.
So........... Uninstalled IE6 & 7 and reinstalled IE6.
Works normally now.
Thanks for the thoughts.
