Hi

If for example, I'd refresh any webpage and then go to my Outlook, open a
new mail or read an email, as soon as the refresh of the webpage is finished,
the page takes over, i.e. it becomes the first on my screen. I have to
minimise it so that I can carry on writing or reading my email.

Is there something I should do for this not to happen.

Many thanks.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft newsgroup!

From your post, my understanding on this issue is: the completely loaded IE
page jumps to the top of the screen. If I'm off base, please feel free to
let me know.

I did a few tests and couldn't reproduce the issue you described. Please
help me do the following steps to narrow down this issue:

A. IE with no add-on mode
=====================
1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then point to
System Tools.
2. Click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
3. Test the issue again.

B. Safe mode with network

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose the Safe Mode with Network, and press Enter.
4. Test the issue again.

Some Sypware or some malicious application may also cause this issue. I
think we need some special tool such as anti-Spyware software to scan the
computer again.

For your convenience, I have included some online scan services and
software download links as the following:

Windows Defender (Beta 2)

Hello,

I think what he means by "top of the screen" is that it is coming to the
front of all windows.

It is reproducible if the page in question fires the JavaScript function
body.focus() after it has loaded or some other triggers.

I am also interested to know whether there's way to disable this, as well as
to prevent any other software window from forcing itself to the front. Major
problem especially when I am typing.

This option does not appear to be available with IE6. Besides, it isn't the
problem.

Minimize the IE window before going to Outlook.

Now explain this to us. You mean to say that when you minimize the IE window that it will undo the minimize by itself and jump back in front of you as a window. Very hard to understand\believe that.

Peter

If you didn't understand me or believe me, I can only say I am sorry about
this.
But please don't get too excited. I think both Frank and Singapore
understood the issue. If there is no fix or a workaround it, this is fine by
me. Nothing is perfect. I raised this issue here because I thought - as it
was often the case - that there may be a fix for it which I am not aware of
and someone like our brilliant Frank Sanders, Sean and many others would help
me fix it.

I do not know what you meant by "us".

Take it easy.

Thank you Frank and Singapore

Even minimizing, it didn't help.

You could also try using TweakUI's maximum Focus control.
E.g. try its "Flash taskbar button until I click on it" option.

Of course, if it's really a script driven thing that's causing it
you could always temporarily disable scripting. ; }

Good luck

Hi Best,

The behavior you described sounds really abnormal, especially the behavior
continues in safe mode.
