IE6 on XP locks up when second IE window is closed

this has happened several times to me, and i think it's a
bug: i've gone to a webpage which has a link on it that
opens another page, hence, apparently, another instance
of IE. when i close the second page, both lock. just an
hourglass in the second page. Task Manager lets me close
the second page, but when i do, both are terminated.
system is fine other than that. seemed to start after i
installed Office 2003.
help?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
