IE6 on on Win 98 SE....unable to connect to any internet site

I get a cannot connect to a server error message using IE6. Firefox and
Opera work fine. Is this a settings issue?
 
It probably is a settings issue.
The first thing I do is check Tools-Internet Options-Connections
tab-LAN Settings and ensure "Use a proxy server...." is not checked.
(Mine resets occasionally)
