Hi,

I'm using IE6-SP2. So its weird that when I sign into Hotmail, I get a page
that says I am not using a supported browser and invites me to download IE6.

When I go to the Microsoft Updates site, it will start to scan my IE6 and
then hangs.

Furthermore, when I tried to download the newly released IE7 from
Microsoft's site, I get an error and is then directed a page which is a list
of all Microsoft products.

So far, I can't figure out what's wrong with my IE6. Can anyone comment or
have an idea what's wrong?

many thanks,
jacendo

Try starting these REGs:

and then

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis log
to an appropriate forum (not here).

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
your log to http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30,

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
