IE6 missing bottom window

Several days ago my IE6 opened without the bottom status window (the one where the padlock symbol appears on secure sites). I can't find anywhere in the options etc which would re-enstate it. I tried to re-install following the instructions from MS Knowledge base article 318378 - changing the IsInstalled key in the register - but find that the installation stops after about 8% with the error message that a component has not passed the Widows Logo testing to verify it's comatability with Windows XP. Ironic since this is a Microsoft download

Any ideas anyone

Thanks for your help

To re-instate the status window, you can do the following:

In IE, click View, then make sure there's a checkmark next to Status Bar.

If the check mark is there, uncheck and re-check it. If this does not work,
please let me know!

I hope this helps. :-)

Hi Lance

That worked. Thanks a lot. A bit stupid really but at least I now know that it's called the status bar

Hi Barry,

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I had to ask a friend the first time I
encountered it as well. :-) And that's how you learn, by asking!

Glad to be of assistance! :-)
