IE6 misfire !!!

please help if you can

when browsing, i get a problem every so often where pages
don't load, (no activity at all) then after about 30secs
or so they load fine. then its ok for a few mins, then it
happens again.

i have ie6 sp1 & win98se ADSL line with Alcatel 330 modem.
just ran all the updates from ms.

think it started when i upgraded to ie6. is it
incompatability with win98?

anyone?
