Just installed new Dell E510 desktop with WinXP-SP2 build 2600, IE 6.0-SP2.

Have stand-alone home computer with dial-up service.

I am constantly being disconnected. In IE, every time I change pages within
a website or try to change websites, I receive an offline message and have
to dial a new connection. For example, a visit to the Microsoft Knowledge
Base required four dial-ups to get from the menu to the subject I wanted.
In OE, to reply or to click on a URL requires a new dial-up.

How can I solve this? My old Win98SE computer did not have this problem.

Hi Bill,

Two things to check:

- Make sure your mail program (Outlook Express or whatever you use) is NOT
set to disconnect after each collection of mail.
- Make sure you have no malicious dialers on that machine. Spybot
(www.spybot.info) is a nice tool to find those.

Kind regards
