Recently, whenever I try to visit particular websites, IE6 is redirected to
other websites, and I can't find the source of the problem. For example, if
I try to go to msn.com, IE6 browses to another website.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

or:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

If you find this one look at the removal tool below.

I believe I found the answer to my problem: apparently, some really
disgusting spyware had installed itself on my system, and it went into my
Hosts file and added a particular IP address for hundreds of websites, so
that everytime I wanted to visit one of those sites, IE6 would be
re-directed to the rogue IP address. That'll teach me not to install
critical updates more frequently.
