Windows XP IE6 Java Conflict

Hi
Several weeks ago i noticed heavy data being transfered whilst doing nothing on the net. Installed Adaware and cleaned out offending files. Adaware's function of blocking pop ups also seemed to stop all java aplets working and secondary ie6 pages from opening up. Removed Adaware but problem remained. Reloaded ie6 to no avail. Is this a registery problem. I dont really want to have to reformat and start again.

I am using win 98.

Any helpul thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi,

I don't know if this will solve your problem but you could try:

Go to Tools menu in Explorer window
--> Internet Options
--> Security tab

Try changing you security level to different settings.

If this doesn't work go to Internet Options again
--> Advanced tab

There should be some check boxes for Java, try changing the checking combinations on this.

If this doesn't work, I'm sorry that's all I've got.

Ive tried messing with all the security settings - chnaged from high to low and even custom ones - it doesn't seem to help.
