I have a problem whereby when I first boot up my pc internet explorer works fine, finds sites, goes to links, the back
and forward buttons work. Then, after a period of about 5-10 minutes, it gives messages of "Site not found", even if it
has just been to that page a few seconds ago.

I have performed a full virus scan with McAfee's latest DAT file. No errors found.

Please hlpe, it's driving me around the bend.

TIA

Hi there,

Apply couple of patches to delete and reinstall the Winsock from registry:

Delete existing winsock entries:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/reg/xp_del_winsock.reg

Import the correct registry entries
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/reg/win98_winsock.reg

Usage: Double-click the file and answer and YES when prompted.

Hi Meena

thanks for the help. Unfortunately it hasn't helped. I sufr for about five minutes and then it suddenly takes ages to
try and locate a site (even a site I've been to just a few moments ago) and then it says "page not found"

Any other advice would be much appreciated.

TIA

I THINK (fingers crossed) I've solved this. I believe it was a version of Zonealarm free that got corrupted, would not
uninstall.

I downloaded the latest version and did a "clean" install (one of the install options) and so far I've been surfing
happily for 15 minutes.
