Hello-

Hopefullly someone can help me out here!

When using Internet Explorer, if I select the "Tools"
button and then select "Internet Options" button, I
receive a message that says "This operation has been
cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.
Please contact your system administrator."

This computer is simply my home pc, so I don't think there
is a system administrator, right?

Is this message something to worry about? Can it be fixed?
Perhaps I changed a setting somewhere, and I am simply
unaware of it.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi John,

Reset the Internet Explorer tabs and remove all the browser restrictions.
Download the script from:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

Also, refer Fix 268 from Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Restore All tabs in IE and Removes the ** Internet Options ** Restrictions
as well

The problem is due to a spyware. Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com,
scan the system and eliminate the malware products. Re-apply the above fix
if necessary. ** Remember to update the pattern file using WebUpdate in
Ad-Aware **

'Did you by chance run SpyBot's Immunize feature?
If so, you can unlock by unchecking the option to "Protect IE Control
Panel". See:
