IE6 Internet Options Disabled

After mistakenly installing what I thought to be an IE6 patch overtop of my
existing IE6, I have had the 'Tools' -'Internet Options' - 'Security'
disabled or greyed out. I also have a new 'MS IE Provided by...' on my top
header bar that I don't want. This was because it was a corporate version
over top of a public version. How can I restore my security options and
clean out the header bar back to what it was? I tried to uninstall and
re-install my original version with no luck. I suspect the answer lies in
the registry, but need advice on this. Thanks.

Remove IE Restrictions. Download a fix from:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

To remove the branding:
Click Start | Run | and type the following commands one by one: and press
Enter
"Rundll32 IedkCS32.dll, Clear"

Wow! Thank you so much for the information and quick response. I was
successful in removing the 'Branding' by the method you recommended. However
for whatever reason, the attempt to remove the IE restrictions did not work.
I tried it as both Administrator and User without success. Any ideas as to
why?

Open Registry Editor and go to:
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions\NoBrowserOptions

Delete the NoBrowserOptions key

I looked for the following as you suggested without any luck.

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions\NoBrowserOptions

Delete the NoBrowserOptions key

What I did find is as follows:

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions\NoSetHomePage

I also found this:

HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\InfoDelivery\Restrictions\NoBrowserSaveWebComplete
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\InfoDelivery\Restrictions\NoSearchCustomization

The above was logged on as Administrator. Logged on as a user, I found
NoBrowserOptions in the following locations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explore
Bars\{C4EE......}\FilesNamedMRU
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5........\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explore
Bars\{C4EE.....}\FilesNamedMRU

In both of these keys there are items numbered 000 to 024 and both items
002=nobrowseroption.

I need help in understanding why the NoBrowserOptions isn't listed as you
suggested as well as if the above is even relevant. Thanks again.

Apologies. NoBrowserOptions applies if you are unable to open the Internet Options. you might want to check here:

Can't adjust security settings at tools, internet options, security Security tab is missing completely

Wow! Once again you've come through. I found the appropriate key at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Internet Settings\ This contains the 'Security_Options_Edit' DWORD.
What I'm not sure of next is whether to delete this key or edit the DWORD
value which is 1. So should I change this value to 0 or delete the key? I
have backed up the key and in fact the entire registry. Any further info
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks once again.

To Nareshkumar, Thank you for your input however that is exactly the problem
that I am having. Security Zone settings and Custom Level button are greyed
out so Security_Options_Edit is in fact where the problem lies. I'm just not
sure on the registry requirement to delete the key or change the value from
1 to 0.

Delete the key or change the Value

[Value Data: 0 = disable restriction, 1 = enable restriction]
