Is there any way to disable the information bar??? It is the most
intrusive and frustrating aspect of the XP SP2 upgrade. I have tried to
find a control that would permit me to disable this feature but without
success. Any suggestions will be most appreciated

Hi Rex :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

(Part 2):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LocalMachine_Lockdown
setting REG_DWORD values to 0 disables LMZ lock-down.

also......

Tools > Internet Options ... > Advanced
Scroll down to Security
Switch on: Allow active content to run in files on My Computer
You may need to do the same for CD's.

and....

Jan Thank you for your helpful suggestions. I have implemented all of
them that I could. The registry did not appear to go through all the way.
Despite all of the corrective actions "The info bar" is still in evidence on
some pages.... not on every one. So I have made some welcome progress. I
will address problems as they appear and report results back to the forum
