This is a new install of WinXP with SP2
After I installed Norton Anti Virus, IE6
would stop accessing webpages after a
short amount of time, every time I select
a favorite or type a URL it returns the
"The page cannot be displayed" page

rebooting solves the problem for a few
minutes, then I can't access webpages
again, I read a lot of messages here and
nothing I did solves the problem.

I hope someone can help.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Like I said, this is a new install of WinXP with SP2.
I am behind a hardware firewall.
The only software I loaded was Norton Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam.
Began browsing the internet for other software, and after a few
pages, it quit, tried the WinSock repair tool, it only solved the problem
for a few minutes, ran AdAware, all it found was a couple of cookies.

I described the problem to a guy at work, and he had a similar problem
all he could remember is it had something to do with the DNS cache.
