i cannot for the life of me download IE6 for windows xp.
i keep getting detected a higher version of IE
what do i do?

You may already have the latest installed.

i got this:

Try visiting Windows Update as you did not state whether you simply
attempted to download IE only.
Ensure all pop-up blockers, etc, are disabled.
