Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close.


IE6 win 2000 SP4 newest Java environment 5 update 8 and IE6 hotfix
918899. Will not play any video off Yahoo (ABC news). Seems to crash
when loading applets, doesn't seem related to Flash (running Version
9,0,16,0) as I can load flash pages without issue (zippo.com)

See other megs posted on this -- basically you need to turn off
auto-updates, reinstall IE6, and then let it install updates except for
the most recent of august 8th.
