I open IE6, a website opens, e.g. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/
I then click the Forums link on the left hand side.
Eventually I get the "The page cannot be displayed" message with
"Cannot find server or DNS Error".

Some websites seem to be okay, e.g. http://news.bbc.co.uk/
Any links clicked from here open okay.

If I copy the links and open them in a new browser, they open
successfully, so it appears to be only if selected from the current
browser.

I have googled the problem and tried a few suggestions, e.g....
restarting urlmon.dll, plus a load of other dlls, e.g. oleaut32.dll
I have cleared the temporary file cache.
I have disabled 3rd party browsing.
I have reinstalled Java (currently at 1.6.0)
I have tried downloading a new oleaut32.dll

Still the problem is there. Does anyone have any other suggestions, as
this is starting to drive me nuts now.

Hi,
Sounds like you found http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm Did you
re-register all the DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679
?

Windows XP?
Try clearing the DNS Cache
Start> Run> cmd [enter]
ipconfig /flushdns
Then clear the Temporary Internet Files and restart.

If running a broadband modem and or router, shut them down (along with the
computer for a few minutes.)

If running a third-party firewall or security suite, turn on the Windows
Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall and disable the third-party
firewall or security suite.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi Don and thanks for the reply.

Yes I'd found the two links you've mentioned (or ones similar), and
also tried clearing the temporary internet files.
I''ve just tried clearing the internet cache.
I'm running behind a company firewall of some sort, where the Windows
firewall is disabled and not enable-able.

Still no difference I'm afraid.
