Help! My IE 6 keeps getting incomplete, fragmented, or
bogus sources that makes web pages not displayed and
functioned properly. For example, when I access Windows
Update, I got this on top of the page instead of the
regular Windows Update page banner:

ion' == typeof(fnShowMenu)) fnShowMenu(this,
ProductsMenu);" onmouseout="if('function' == typeof
(fnFadeMenu)) fnFadeMenu();">All Products | Support |
Search | microsoft.com Guide

I got similar problems when I access other Microsoft pages
as well as ebay pages. Also, the problem is not totally
consistent. Sometimes it causes the same page to be
displayed differently, with or without explicit codes
(HTML/Javascript) shown on page, and sometimes it just
renders links and buttons on page not usable. That is,
when links and buttons are pressed, nothing would happen.

I am running IE 6 version 6.0.2800.1106 and Windows 2000
5.00.2195 Service Pack 4 on a Pentium 6 1.60GHz machine
with 512M RAM. I also have all my security and privacy
settings for IE6 being set to the default levels. Any
comments and leads to troubleshoot my problem is
apprecitated. Thanks!

Recently, I've benn getting error messages that appears
that my browser (MS SP1 version 6x)does not think it a
Microsoft product. There are -2- most notibaly.

1) While trying to get MS Windows Update:

Thank you for your interest in Windows Update
Windows Update is the online extension of Windows
thathelps you get the most out of your computer.

You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating
system in order to use Windows Update.

2) An error occurred while evaluating the expression:
request.menuWidth = 219;
request.menuTableWidth = "21%";
request.contentTableWidth = "79%";
request.contentWidth = "79%";
request.pageWidth = "100%";
//request.pageWidth = "100%";
// added this logic to force old versions of ie
browsers to behave like netscape
if (request.stBrowserInfo.isExplorer and
request.stBrowserInfo.majorversion lte 4) {

request.stBrowserInfo.isNavigator = "yes";
request.stBrowserInfo.isExplorer = "no";
}
if (request.stBrowserInfo.isNavigator eq "yes") {
request.style = "mainStyleNS.css";
request.ContrastStyle = "contrastStyleNS.css";
} else {
request.style = "mainStyle.css";
request.ContrastStyle = "contrastStyle.css"}
if (isDefined("url.flat")) {
request.style = "mainStyleFlat.css";}

thanks,
john
