IE6 fails after installation SP4

I have installed W2000 and updated IE to version 6. I had
no trouble with connecting to the internet. But after
downloading and installing SP4, IE does not connect
anymore. I have already disbled my firewall but this does
not solve the problem. After removing SP4, IE functions
normally again. What can be the problem here?

I was having this same/similar problem. I tracked it down
to my software firewall. It was blocking all outgoing
attempts. What I did to resolve the issue was to turn off
the firewall during install and disable it from
automatically loading at start-up. Once the update was
done, and after the re-boot, I manually launched the
firewall and reset the auto-startup option.
