IE6 error reporting/MCI command handling window problem

Need help from all you guru's here. For quite some time now, my IE6 has
crashed when loading a page. (Sorry, but I have not looked at the error
detail yet, but it may not matter.) Each time this has happened, I have sent
the error report to Miscosoft, and then restarted IE. But recently after
sending the error report, I get a new window telling me there may be a fix,
and that I can 'click here' for a link to the information that I need. But
whenever I click on that link, this new window completely freezes up.

I try going to the task manager, but there is no task running that appears
to be this window. So then I just try and restart windows to get rid of this
error window. And while windows is shutting down, I get an error saying that
the MCI Command Handling Window is not responding, and I click the 'end now'
to complete the reboot.

So I actually have two separate issues... First off, what is this MCI thing
and how do I fix it? And secondly, how can I find out what the possible fix
is for my IE6 problem?

I am running XP home, SP2, and IE6, SP2. If you need other info, just ask
and I'll try to get it.

Thanks!

First eliminate any scumware.
What You Should Know About Spyware

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
