This is weird!

When I download something using IE6, the file appears breifly in the folder,
but then deletes automatically. It doesn't go to the recycle bin however.

I don't find this with FireFox.

Any ideas?

Hey Rob!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am running high-end antivirus, antispyware and firewall software and
it's set to alert me to any activity. However, it's not finding anything.

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Hey Rob!

Thanks again.

Actually, I've tried saving it in a number of different folders - same
results. There are no settings that I'm aware of, but I think this began
after I loaded Windows Defender.

I just didn't want to believe it, but you're were absolutely right, Terry!

I uninstalled Windows Defender and lo and behold, I can download files again!

Thanks Terry!

I have the same problem where the files downloaded, appeared briefly and
vanished. I was able to view an Excel file and save it. But anything directly
downloaded deleted. I'm running Norton Antivirus, but have never had the
problem and did not have the problem with Microsoft's previous AntiSpy
version. I was using the Feb 17 version of WD. I see there is another
2/22/06, but don't know if it fixes this problem. Deleting Windows Defender
solved the problem for now. I think I'll wait for the realeased version or
until I see that the download problem is fixed.

Hi Dennis,
Running any anti-virus software? If so check your settings to enable alerts
when malicious software is detected. At least then you will know why it is
being deleted.

Hi Dennis,

I don't know what else it could be. Try saving your download to a different
folder? If you are using a work computer check with your system
administrator. Perhaps they are doing something.

Hi Rob :-)
Thanks Jan, it was my time zone settings actually. New Laptop thought I
was in Mexico. Ah that would be nice. Hawaii next.

W'll hey! I like the way your laptop thinks! All mine can think of is
work, work work.. :-)

I have the same problem, but I reinstalled Defender and had no problems until
another update was installed today.

I installed Defender on several machines at work and do not have this
problem. Is ther any other fix?
