IE6 Download

Whenever I try and download something in IE6 (using left
click) it either downloads in the background and then
doesn't advise on completion or it just doesn't do the
download at all. The behaviour I am used to on other
systems (and wish to have here also) is that as soon as I
left click to download it will prompt for the place to
save the file and then start the download.

If I right click the link and tell it to 'Save Target As'
then the download always works.

I have Internet Explorer 6 with Windows 2000 Pro and
Office 2000 Pro. I have all latest service packs
installed. The operating system was upgraded to Windows
2000 from Windows 98.

Any ideas?

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to the file type in question and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Check the box for "Confirm open after download".
