Downloading http://codespeak.net/svn/stackless/binaries-pc/python24.dll.zip
with current updated WinXP/IE6 yields a consistently corrupt file. File
downloads correctly w/ cygwin "wget" on same machine. Also downloads
correctly from linux box. Similar machine using Norton instead of McAfee
virus protection yields identical results.

Binary difference of corrupt/good files shows interesting correlations.
Perhaps some kind of anti-virus warping in IE6 itself?

Hi dp,

My guess is that the name of the download file is confusing ie with its
..dll.zip extension.

In the Security Settings for the Internet Zone there is an option to 'Open
files based on content, not file extension'. My settings are enabled but I
would not like to test it on my machine. I will leave it to you if you trust
the download source.

Regards.

I don't think that's relevant. My security settings were only on medium,
which doesn't have that option. And the file really is a zipped up dll.
