IE6 does not let me read the NY Times

Walter R.

I just reinstalled windows XP SP2 with IE6.

The internet works fine on all websites, except when I try to access the New
York Times ( www.nytimes.com ). The site freezes almost immediately and
prevents me from accessing links from this site.

I have set Security and Privacy at default levels (medium). Pentium 4, 1.6
gb, 512 MB memory.

Why is only one site on the internet giving me so much trouble? Is their
website too complex for IE6?

Thanks for any help.

Walter

NYT's is a fairly complex site. The home page places ( or attempts to
place ) at least 6-7 3rd-party cookies. Is your XP fully updated ? also
does your setup have add-ons installed such as Sun Java, Shockwave
and Flash Players. Many web pages make use of this type of content
and pages may not properly display without them.

Walter,

I'm using Win XP Home SP3. I don't have any problem viewing NYT. It
worked fine with SP 1 and SP 2 also. So you have a problem. Sorry, but I
can't help, though.

Look in your "hosts" file to see if it`s "blacklisted" .

No, it's not the complexity of the site. Some way, somehow, it's being
blocked on you.
Any chance you had this problem before the reinstall too?

Any error messages? Quote them here.

You might try setting it as a "trusted site"

Why did you reinstall WinXP (SP2)?

Is the machine fully patched at Windows Update?
