Good morning, afternoon or evening,

I'm running IE6, with Win XP Pro as OS.

Upon connection to the Internet, IE searches for the following address,
visualized for a very brief time in the bar at the bottom of the window:
"uscache.kcc.com". Please note that the PC I use is an ex-company PC, and
kcc.com is the domain of that company. Following the above, IE displays a
"Cannot find server" screen, although in the address bar is the correct
address for the chosen home page, "http://www.google.co.uk". If I then click
on the home page button on the IE toolbar, IE connects to the relevant
address without any problem.

I believe this behaviour to be the result of a change that I made to a
registry key, because it started to happen after I modified the registry.
Unfortunately I changed various keys at the same time, without a log of the
modifications, so I cannot identify the relevant key.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer - Niccolò

The proper thing to do with a used PC is to format it and reinstall
everything from the supplied CDs.
