IE6 Crashes When Scrolling

Kevin

IE6 keeps closing down when I scroll websites -- any website. It is not
immediate, but happens most often when I use the wheel on my mouse, or when
I click and drag the sidebar but maybe slide off to the side a bit when
dragging the scrollbar down. I loaded the latest nVidia driver for my video
card. I loaded the latest update to IE6. About the only thing I haven't
done is load a new driver for my Microsoft Mouse (don't know where to look
for that). The Windows Update scan says I have no critical updates to load
to my system (Windows XP Prof). I don't know what else to do!!!!!

Ditto Kevin,
I'm running I.E. 6 on a WIN 98 SE system that started doing
the same after the latest update.
I'll be Veeerrrry interested in this fix if there is one.
MS KB hasn't got a clue that I've found.
If I can keep the browser open long enough.
It was working perfectly until this last patch on this dino
of a P-II 333 MHz w/ 468 MB's of 100 MHz SDRAM.
One thing different though, It's a hard crash that
Ctrl+Alt+Del won't correct.
It's a complete system freeze up here requiring a re-boot.
The C+A+D key sequence brings up a blank screen (bluish
orange).
No text at all.
That's a first ever happening.
I've looked over 300 posts here and it seems you and I are
the only one's that this is happening to so far.
So, what say you all wondrous IE-6 MSVP's?
This is a killin' us.

A great big Thanks MSVP team in advance ~.~

This problem is often caused by out of date video drivers.
Go to the web site for the manufacturer of your card, and
download the latest and greatest for your machine.

If you have an ATI card installed, in the system.ini file
add this to the [display] section:

DevBMP=0 (thats a zero)

Check that you have at least V6.1 of Directx installed by
running dxdiag.exe. If not, go to www.microsoft.com/directx
to update.

A good way to test and stabilize your system until the
upgrades are done is reduce the hardware acceleration on
your video card by right clicking on my computer, click
properties, click the performance tab, click graphics
button, move the slider toward none, click apply, ok, and
reboot.

<I moved my performance slider back to 1/4, seems to be ok
now.
Her page is definitely in my PC favorites folder!
Thanks Sis Sandra Hardmeier!
