W2K, IE 6.0.2800.1106
This morning I tried to do some surfing but am unable to
get IE to run. When I attempt to open IE, a box pops up
telling me there is an error, IE needs to be shut down and
a report is generated. In addition, when I attempt to
start Control Panel, I receive an error that explorer has
generated errors and must be restarted. CP will not open.
If I go to "Start, Search", I get the same error box and
the same if I attempt to start Windows Explorer.
I can do all these under Safe Mode w/Networking, but not
in Normal Mode.
Any ideas?

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
