I am experiencing a weird connectivity issue with IE6. When I first boot my
computer, IE6 connects and works just fine. After a short period of time,
however, it will suddenly stop connecting. At the bottow, where it normally
displays the web site name it is connecting to, stops displaying the name of
the web site it it trying to connect to and starts displaying numbers (DNS
addreess?) and ultimately times out regardless of what web site I am trying
to connect to.

Sometimes a reboot will fix the issue right away but in short order the same
issue will occur. Sometimes a reboot will not fix the problem and I have to
shut the computer off for awhile and then it will work for awhile.

I can connect to E-mail just fine and I can connect to Yahoo Messenger and
MSN Messenger while the IE issue is occuring.

I am running WIN XP Home with all the latest updates installed. I h ave run
Ad Aware, Spy Bot and Windows defender and gotten rid of what it identified
as problems and run a anti virus check with Avast.

I connect through a DSL broadband connecttion, ATT / Yahoo DSL.

My only thought is to reformat the drive and reinstall the operating system
but thats a painful prospect given I will have to reinstall all of my
programs.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue and suggest a less time
consuming option.

Thanks in advance!
